Design Intention

The starting point of Pocket Cup lies in a small but universal daily contradiction: when you need a cup, it is often not at hand. Whether it is the suspicious glass cup in a hotel room, or not finding a paper cup at the airport water dispenser, disposable paper cups are neither environmentally friendly nor dignified enough.

Therefore, its design logic is not to compete with powerful thermoses, but to be a cup with minimum presence that you carry with you. Emphasizing a flattened, foldable structure allows it to be stuffed into pockets, taking up almost no space, yet able to expand into a normal capacity cup when needed.

Form and Material

In order to make the pocket cup concept work, the design team focused on key points: it can be compressed thin but has sufficient stability after unfolding; the part that contacts beverages must be safe and easy to clean; the overall weight needs to be almost imperceptible.

Common implementations include food-grade silicone folding structures, flexible cup walls supported by metal rings, and hard nested ring stacking schemes. Each has its compromises between folding durability and thickness.

Daily Usage Scenarios

Typical usage scenarios are scattered throughout the day: morning coffee shop visits, office water dispensers, gym sessions, or hotel rooms. These moments share a common feature: temporary need for a water container in urban daily life.

It does not pursue strong functions like cold or heat preservation, but focuses on being a clean interface always available. When you no longer need to search for paper cups, its value is reflected.

Cleaning and Maintenance

A cup that contacts water daily needs easy cleaning. Pocket Cup reduces dead corners and joints. The folding structure unfolds smoothly for rinsing, and some versions are dishwasher compatible.

Before storage, ensure the cup is completely dry to avoid odor from long-term storage, especially for silicone materials.

About Sustainability

The large consumption of disposable paper cups is a visible environmental problem. Pocket Cup provides an alternative that must be more portable than disposable cups. When a cup can be folded to pocket size and is easy to clean, people have motivation to give up disposable options.
